The Sessions

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a wonderful form of hypnotherapy that helps you access your own potential in life. We focus on helping you understand, accept and master your thoughts. Together we work to find your own inner, and possibly hidden, strengths and resources.

Life is full of ups and downs, and we all come to feel stressed, upset or anxious sometimes. Happiness isn't the lack of these negative emotions, it is feeling them and living anyway. Our sessions will work to help you understand your triggers, and emotions, focusing on building strength and resilience.

The sessions are engaging and productive - we work together to create your own tailor made tools and activities to help you live the life you want. Come prepared to work - to challenge your thinking and create a new life for yourself.

Compassion Focused Therapy

I have completed training in Compassion Focused Therapy, and these days it plays a large role in my sessions.  Compassion focused therapy helps us to look at our past with kindness, and no judgement, to learn from it, so that we can then build the future we want.

I use techniques from the CFT model to help you build the three elements of compassion, giving compassion, receiving compassion, and self-compassion. Self compassion has been shown to reduce anxiety, depression and a fear of failure, while boosting overall happiness and well-being.

The sessions will be spent largely talking. We will talk about your wins, your strengths and your goals. We will find new ways to look at the things in your life which cause you stress, turmoil and unease. The sessions will mostly be positive and forward looking, but we're not afraid to look to the dark places. The sessions will be a safe space for you to explore your mind, your thinking and behaviour and make positive changes for your future.

In the last portion of the session we may use hypnosis, meditation or visualisation to help build on the ideas discussed during the session. I may also recommend 'homework' tasks - either meditations, exercises or simple thought practices to work on between sessions.

The compassionate mind is the mind that transforms.
