Reflection and Writing

I have recently returned back to work from maternity leave with my second baby, and have been delving back into marketing. The dreaded marketing. I am not a marketer, I'm a therapist. But, as a self employed person unfortunately it comes with the territory. I'm not going to lie, I don't love it. I am not a sales person. I believe in honesty and integrity, and in people making informed choices autonomously. Something about spruking myself seems a bit bleh. But I digress. On this foray into marketing, and considering all my options for potentially getting more new clients through the doors I realised it has been a very long time since I wrote a blog.

Last week I was working with a client on a vision for her future - a visual of the life she wants to create for herself so she has a sense of direction and purpose moving forward. Next week we're going to create a vision board together, I can't wait! Speaking with her about vision boards it made me remember one I did now 5 years ago, and I just dug it out. Turns out it was nearly 5 years ago today. Written in the corner is a little note "This, or something better, now manifests in my life 2/5/2020". This vision board was stuck to the wall of my bedroom near my bed for about a year, until we bought our first home and moved out. And since then I am sorry to say it's been folded away in a pile of stuff in my office. Boy was it interesting pulling it out. On it are pictures of beautiful gardens full of purple flowers, one with a toddler wandering around. There's a drawing I did of the house I saw us living in, and a list of words.

What's crazy is that our house is a Bath stone (yellow) semi-detached house with a bay window (all be it the mirror image), we have a veggie patch and greenhouse in the garden, and I am looking out the window of my home office (not in the attic, even better, in the garden) at my beautiful busy purple garden, which my two babies love to play in.

There is definitely power in creating an image for yourself, of the life you want to lead. The feeling, the sense, the purpose. It gives every hard day, every lesson learned, every push a reason. Something you're striving for. It is a tool I am going to be using a lot more with clients moving forward, as it also definitely fits in with my 'creative pathways!'

However, I once again digress. Looking at this vision board, I realised that while so much on there has been manifested, there was one word that surprised me when I wrote it on there 5 years ago - a word I haven't yet manifested: writing. Maybe now, and this blog is the time and place.

So keep an eye out. I am going to try and make it a regular thing to just write. Write about whatever feels needs to be said. Some will likely be complete random babble (a lot like this one!), others may have some useful information and nuggets of wisdom, we'll see what we get! If you'd like to see more of my babble then do subscribe to get a notification when one comes out.
